WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will work closely with the wider Finance Team and other business departments to manage the payroll function. This role offers opportunity for growth and the ability for you to support decisions that impact the business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Liaise with outsourced payroll providers and the HR team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the end-to-end monthly payroll for ~600 employees (both Australian and APAC regional)
- Manage all payroll tasks including processing relevant country pensions, taxes and other payroll related obligations
- Process monthly Australian payroll tax lodgements and annual reconciliation
- Complete payroll year end activities for each relevant country (including STP, year-end tax filings)
- Independently monitor and respond to Payroll Inbox queries
- Provide ad hoc payroll reporting to HR and other internal departments
- Support payment of with various variable pay (bonus) and long-term incentives
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities in processes, controls and workpapers, and ensuring these are well documented
- Assist the Finance team with insights and commentary for management reporting, cash and capital planning
- Support Operational Finance and broader Finance team to ensure smooth and timely year-end process
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to provide information that supports business decision making and ad hoc requests
- Support Group Finance reporting and information requests
- Support internal and external audits
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant job experience
- Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in end-to-end payroll management, with a strong understanding of Australian payroll
- Experience in owning the delivery of monthly payroll and performing calculations and meeting obligations relating to PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, and Workers Compensation
- Demonstrated experience in process and system improvements, including technology change initiatives
- Experience with payroll journals, reconciliations, and accounting systems such as NetSuite is a plus
- Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to package information clearly and concisely
- Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Strong controls awareness, including experience with control frameworks and improvements
- Self-motivated and able to act autonomously to manage the payroll processing function
- Ability to adapt quickly and effectively manage competing priorities
- Commercial and questioning mindset with a commitment to high standards and quality outputs
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Desire to continue learning and growing within the role
